KUUIPO RACE AT KEAUHOU BAY ON SATURDAY MARCH 16TH, 2019
Keauhou presents the 21st Annual HIPA Kuuipo Race in memory of Eda Hinchcliffe.
Short course will be 6 miles from Keauhou to Lyman’s and back, and Long Course will start at Honokohau and proceed directly to the finish line inside Keauhou Bay.
All Registration will take place at Keauhou, stating at 7:30 a.m. with both courses starting at 9:30 a.m.
Race to be followed by brunch and awards at Keauhou’s halau.

Registration 7:30am at HIPA Honokohau Canoe Hale Race start 10:00am at Kekaha Kai State Park

KAUIKEAOULI CHALLENGE/KUUIPO RACE

This Saturday, March 17th, Keauhou Canoe Club will sponsor the Kauikeaouli Challenge Races, which includes the 20th Annual Kuuipo Race in the Hawaii Island Paddlesports Association series in memory of Eda Hinchcliffe, for OC1, OC2, V-1, Surfskis and Standup Paddleboards.
The 6-1/2 mile short course will run from outside Keauhou Bay to Lyman’s Bay and back to Keauhou, while the 10 mile long course will begin at Honokohau Harbor and head straight south to the finish line inside Keauhou Bay.
The event will be followed by lunch and awards at the Keauhou CC halau.
All Registration will take place at Keauhou Canoe Club’s halau at Keauhou Bay, starting at 8 a.m. and both long and short courses will begin at 10 a.m. and be followed with lunch and awards at Keauhou.
*PLEASE DO NOT SET UP YOUR CANOES ON THE GRASS BY BATHROOMS, THERE IS ANOTHER FUNCTION GOING ON THERE. MAHALO!
LavaLava Beach Club Race is CANCELLED for this year due to construction work going on.
THIS COMING SATURDAY WILL BE THE FREDDIE BERENGUE OHANA WA'A BIRTHDAY / MEMORIAL EVENT RACE
Registration will be at the Honokohau HIPA Halau at 7:30 am, race course will be from Mahai'ula to the harbor, but may change depending on conditions and wind. The race will be approximately 9 miles. Entry donation $20 per paddler

2018 POINT SERIES QUALIFICATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Age group paddlers must participate in at least 5 races of the same division on same course (short or long course) to qualify for point series awards.
Novice and Va'a categories must participate in at least 5 races on the same course (short or long).
The two relay races are one (1) participation point each.
YOU HAVE TO BE A HIPA MEMBER TO QUALIFY FOR THE 2018 POINT SERIES. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Saturdays Jackie Rey's Relay provided glassy conditions with some small kine bumps (if you could find them) for the participants. There was a great turn out, with everyone getting a dryfit shirt, lunch by the Jackie Rey's chefs, and awards for 1st place divisions. Results are photo link below:

Ocean swell conditions prevent any reasonable chance of a successful race. In consideration of the safety of our paddlers and escort crews, the Keokea race has been cancelled.

Race Fees for HIPA members in 2017
Each Race for 2017 will be only $15 for HIPA members in good standing and $25 for non-members.
Individual HIPA Memberships: Adult $60 Junior $15 for 17 and under.
Family HIPA Membership: $120 for 2 adult paddlers & up to 2 children, 17 yrs & under
All HIPA memberships include use of the HIPA facilities at Honokahau harbor and $10 off each race entry fee.
HIPA Membership is included with storage rack fees at the HIPA halau. Annual $180 ($160 for upper rack). Full payment due by 02/01/2017
2015 Point Series Tally
Anyone that uses the HIPA facilities at Honokahau harbor must be a HIPA member in good standing. The general public is able to use the harbor facilities at any time but our club area is only for HIPA members.
